In this age of disposable celebrity, it was perhaps only a matter of time before someone trained cameras on the people whose job is to manufacture celebrity.

Turns out, that time is next spring, when MTV will debut a series about well-known publicist Lizzie Grubman and some of her associates called "PoweR Girls." The "R" is capitalized on purpose, lest we forget that Grubman and her girls are in the PR business.

The show will follow Grubman -- best known outside the New York media nexus for backing her car into a crowd of people outside a Hamptons nightclub in 2001, for which she served 38 days of a 60-day sentence -- and four of the young women who work for her as they go about creating buzz for the long list of clients at Lizzie Grubman Public Relations.

"The world of Lizzie Grubman and her girls is as exciting and dynamic as it is compelling," says Tony DiSanto, MTV's head of production. "The goal of 'PoweR Girls' is to pull back the curtain on celebrity and nightlife publicity, while also examining all the real-life drama of this amazing group of characters."

Grubman's girls are Ali, Kelly, Millie and Rachel, whose outside interests include fashion, modeling, travel and other, similarly weighty topics. Rachel and Kelly also work part-time at New York's Hudson Hotel, which just happens to be one of Grubman's clients.

"I'm looking forward to MTV viewers seeing the hard work and long hours it takes to run your own business," Grubman says. "It's difficult, but it's also a ton of fun and there is nothing that I would rather do."
